About The Buddy Program
We envision a thriving community in which all members are supported and connected through meaningful relationships and experiences to achieve success.
The Buddy Program empowers youth through mentoring experiences in order to achieve their full potential.
Mentoring and More
For over 40 years, the Buddy Program has been serving youth in the Roaring Fork Valley community. The Buddy Program runs four programs throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, including one-on-one mentoring, group/experiential mentoring, and financial literacy education. Pairs in our Community Program stay together for over 4 years, more than twice that of national mentoring programs. Program evaluations demonstrate that the Buddy Program has helped our Little Buddies in areas of self-esteem, decision making, academics and relationships with friends and family. The Buddy Program worked with 1,098 youth and their families in 2014, and continues to grow to meet the large need in the Roaring Fork Valley. The Buddy Program is a registered 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
In addition to providing mentoring services to youth, the Buddy Program staff provides over 200 hours of case management to our Little Buddies and their families each year. We work with parents, Big Buddies, teachers and counselors to help ensure that the needs of the Little Buddies are being met. Often times, the Buddy Program’s staff is the catalyst to ensure services for a family. Whether they need of counseling or winter coats, the Buddy Program helps to connect them to the right resources. The Buddy Program is an active partner with the Aspen and Roaring Fork School Districts, Mindsprings Health, Aspen Youth Center, Kids First, Pitkin and Eagle Counties Child Protection Teams, RESPONSE, Roaring Fork Family Resource Centers, Youth Zone, the Hope Center, Aspen Community Foundation, Christ Episcopal Church (we refer families for Holiday Baskets and their tutoring programs), among others. We find that the schools can ensure academic services, but use the Buddy Program to ensure that a child in their school has the social and emotional support as well as connections to other services in the community.
The Buddy Program is an equal opportunity employer that complies with applicable law. Except where there is a business necessity or a bona fide occupational qualification, the Buddy Program will make employment decisions without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, military service, veteran or marital status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
