The Buddy Program Opens Office in the 3rd Street Center
The Buddy Program has opened an office at the 3rd Street Center in Carbondale in addition to their current locations in Aspen and Basalt.
“The Buddy Program has been providing programs and services to youth, families and volunteers in Carbondale since 2010,” stated Lindsay Lofaro, Assistant Director. “This new office will allow our staff to be more visible in Carbondale and continue to expand our programming.”
The Buddy Program is looking for volunteers in the Mid-Valley, from Basalt to Carbondale, to be matched as Big Buddies with youth in the area. If you are interested in volunteering, please call today at 970-927-1001 or buddyprogram.staging.wpengine.com.
The Buddy Program has been serving youth in Aspen since 1973 and in Basalt since 1994. We are pleased to be partnering with the Carbondale schools, non-profits such as Youth Zone, Aspen Community Foundation, Family Resource Center of the Roaring Fork School District, and others, to bring our critical services to youth and families in Carbondale. The Buddy Program runs five programs throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, including one-on-one mentoring, group/experiential mentoring, and financial literacy education. In addition to mentoring experiences, the organization provides professional case management, extracurricular activity scholarships, continuing education scholarships, therapeutic counseling and other services. Pairs in our Community Program stay together for 4 years, compared to the national average of 23 months. Program evaluations demonstrate that the Buddy Program has helped our Little Buddies in areas of self-esteem, decision making, academics and relationships with friends and family. The Buddy Program worked with 1,098 youth and their families in 2014, and continues to grow to meet the large need in the Roaring Fork Valley. The Buddy Program is a registered 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
