School-Based Mentoring
Program Facts:
- Adult volunteers from the community mentor students in the school setting during the school day, for one hour a week, throughout the school year.
- The Big and Little Buddy spend time together eating lunch, playing games, doing arts & crafts activities, and getting to know each other.
- This program is available in the Aspen, Basalt and Carbondale Schools.
- Similar to our other programs, our volunteer mentors are screened, trained and case managed for the benefit of the child.

“Being a Big Buddy in the School-based Program is a simple way to help and support a local child with a consistent schedule!” – School-based Big Buddy in Aspen
Fast Facts:
In 2010, the Buddy Program expanded our School-based Programs into the Carbondale schools due to negative influences facing students including: poverty, parental incarceration, large populations of immigrants facing isolation, parental addiction, family mental illness, family discord, and alienation.
