LEAD Program Coordinator

[email protected]

Leadership and Outdoor/Environmental Education is a passion of Soozie‘s. Whether she is teaching the technical skills of how to use gear or how to move through the environment safely or the softer skills of community building, leadership, and small group facilitation, she is in her element.
Soozie worked 10 years as a Mountaineering and Sea Kayaking instructor for the Pacific Crest Outward Bound School, and then she embarked on the great adventure of becoming a mother. As her daughter grew, Soozie stayed closer to home and worked to develop the Outdoor Education Program for the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork and taught there for several years. In that time she also achieved a dream to teach Wilderness First Aid and became an instructor for Desert Mountain Medicine.
Soozie joined the Buddy Program team as a LEAD Program Coordinator in July of 2022. She is a life-long learner, and she continues to enhance her knowledge about medicinal plants, ecosystems, wildlife, environmental policy, human development, education, movement, conflict resolution, and leadership. She is also dedicated to becoming fluent in the languages of Spanish and Music.
She lives in Carbondale with her husband, daughter, and their dog, Dilly.
“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine into trees.” – John Muir
