Buddy Program Community Partnership (BPCP)

Mission of BPCP

To engage local companies to provide top down support to The Buddy Program, with the goal of increasing company morale through volunteer involvement in a community enriching program.

Overview

Many studies (details below) have found that workplace mentoring programs create employee loyalty, increase productivity and build stronger ties between the organization and the community.  These programs also help increase workplace morale, as the company supports employees striving to make a difference in the lives of youth.

As James S. Turley, Chairman of Ernst & Young LLP and recipient of the Excellence in Mentoring Award said, “If other companies are considering starting mentoring programs, I would simply say, ‘Just do it.’ The benefit to the community is great, and very importantly, the benefit to your own people is just as great.”

Why Become a Community Partner?

By allowing your employees to volunteer in a school near your office for an hour each week, you can achieve a better working environment, greater community involvement, and enhance corporate goals.

A survey of 2,500 corporate executives by The Conference Board* and the Points of Light Foundation found that corporate volunteer programs benefited participating companies in the following ways:

  • Built teamwork skills by more than 90%
  • Improved employee retention by more than 80%
  • Improved morale by more than 80%
  • Increased employee productivity by more than 70%
 * The Conference Board is a non-profit organization that conducts research to help businesses strengthen their performance.
A survey of corporate CEOs by the Council on Foundations indicated the following reasons why their companies support non-profits:

  • 62% say the support attracts and keeps workers
  • 52% say the support creates good public relations
  • 49% say the support enhances their image
