School-Based Mentoring Program

Program Facts

  • Adult volunteers from the community mentor students in the school setting during the school day, for one hour a week, throughout the school year.
  • The Big and Little Buddy spend time together eating lunch, playing games, doing arts & crafts activities, and getting to know each other.
  • This program is available in the Aspen, Basalt and Carbondale Schools.
  • Similar to our other programs, our volunteer mentors are screened, trained and case managed for the benefit of the child.

Fast Facts:
Program Expanded into Carbondale Schools

In 2010, the Buddy Program expanded our School-based Programs into the Carbondale schools due to negative influences facing students including: poverty, parental incarceration, large populations of immigrants facing isolation, parental addiction, family mental illness, family discord, and alienation.
